Talking helps.

Being human is hard. That’s why we can all benefit from talking about how we feel, no matter how much we think we’ve got it all worked out.

We provide affordable, accessible therapy in person and online.

Is therapy for me?

People start therapy for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes there’s a clear issue, and other times it’s just a sense that something isn’t quite right. Here are some of the things we often hear:

  • I feel stuck.
  • I don’t know who I am anymore.
  • I keep repeating the same patterns.
  • I’m overwhelmed and don’t know where to start.
  • I feel anxious all the time.
  • I want to feel more confident.
  • I struggle in my relationships.
  • I find it hard to say no.
  • I feel numb or disconnected.
  • I want to understand myself better.
  • I can’t stop overthinking.
  • I feel like I’m not good enough.
  • I’m going through a big life change.
  • I carry things I’ve never spoken about.
  • I want to make peace with my past.
  • I just need someone to talk to.

How can therapy help?

Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and work things through. Over time, it can help you to:

  • Feel more grounded and in control
  • Understand yourself more deeply
  • Make sense of your emotions
  • Break unhelpful patterns
  • Build self-worth and confidence
  • Set healthier boundaries
  • Improve your relationships
  • Navigate change with more ease
  • Process painful experiences
  • Connect with what really matters to you
  • Feel more present and alive
  • Develop compassion for yourself
  • Find clarity and direction
  • Make choices that align with who you are

What our clients say

“I feel like I’m in a better place than before, I can talk about my feelings and keep my head held high. This has been a rough journey but I did it… I never stuck to it before, I tried for years 2 sessions and I would quit. I could not have done this without you.”

“I can not express in words how grateful I am for all your guidance and understanding. I truly believe I am the strongest I have been for many years and feel empowered not only to help myself but others too.”

“Thanks for believing in me.”

“Thank you for the support. Know that you have helped me a lot even in such a small period of time.”

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You taught me so many valuable lessons and I don’t know what I would have been like today without you.”

Our counsellors

At Charnwood Counselling we want to ensure that you have the best possible experience of therapy and one that is right for you.

We assess the needs and preferences of our clients during our initial conversations to ensure you get the most from your time with us.

We have a resident counsellor, but sometimes where appropriate we may refer clients to other therapists who would be better suited to their needs.

JoFounder and Resident Psychotherapist
I am a warm, curious and down-to-earth therapist and I offer a safe and supportive space to explore whatever brings you here.

Therapy isn’t always serious or analytical, it’s not about lying on the couch while I look serious and take notes.

I’m a real person and I bring myself to work. That means sometimes we laugh, sometimes we sit with something tender or painful and sometimes we gently challenge what isn’t working any more.

I work in a relational and integrative way, which means I tailor our sessions to suit your unique needs. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or if you just want to understand yourself a little better, I’ll support you through it.
