Time for

You.

Individual therapy in Loughborough. Talking helps.

Individual therapy is a space that belongs entirely to you. No agenda, no judgement, no advice you didn’t ask for. Just fifty minutes in which you can say the things you’ve been carrying, explore the parts of yourself you haven’t quite understood, and work out how you can move forward.

At Charnwood Counselling, our therapy is individual and one-to-one. We believe that having the right therapist – someone you trust, feel comfortable with, and can be genuinely honest around – makes all the difference. That’s why we take time to match you carefully before your sessions begin.

Is therapy for me?

People come to individual therapy for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes there’s a clear issue, and other times it’s just a sense that something isn’t quite right. Here are some of the things we often hear:

  • I feel stuck and I’m not sure why
  • I don’t really know who I am anymore
  • I keep repeating the same patterns – in relationships, at work, in life
  • I’m overwhelmed and I don’t know where to start
  • I feel anxious, low, or disconnected – but I can’t pinpoint a reason
  • I want to understand myself better
  • I’ve been through something difficult and haven’t really processed it
  • I find it hard to talk to people in my life about how I really feel
  • I want to make changes but I don’t know how
  • I just need somewhere to be honest

How can therapy help?

Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and work things through. Over time, it can help you to:

  • Feel more grounded and in control
  • Understand yourself more deeply
  • Make sense of your emotions
  • Break unhelpful patterns
  • Build self-worth and confidence
  • Set healthier boundaries
  • Improve your relationships
  • Navigate change with more ease
  • Process painful experiences
  • Connect with what really matters to you
  • Feel more present and alive
  • Develop compassion for yourself
  • Find clarity and direction
  • Make choices that align with who you are

How does individual therapy work?

The first step

When you get in touch, we’ll have an initial conversation to understand what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping to get from it. This is free assessment is simply a chance for us to get to know you a little and ensure we match you with the right therapist.

How many sessions will I need?

This can vary hugely from person to person. Some people find a short course of six to twelve sessions gives them what they need. Others prefer to work more openly-ended, returning over a longer period. We’ll talk about what feels right for you, and we’ll review regularly as we go.

Your sessions

Each session lasts 50 minutes and takes place either in our cosy therapy rooms in the heart of Loughborough, or online via a Teams video call – whichever is most convenient and comfortable. Sessions are one-to-one, private and confidential.

We work in a relational and integrative way, which means your therapist will tailor their approach to you rather than applying a rigid framework. Therapy isn’t something that’s done to you – it’s a collaboration. You set the pace, and we work together to reach your goal.
