Online Counselling

The same therapist, wherever you are.

Online counselling is just like therapy where you’re sitting in the room, held over video instead. Not a faceless app, but the same fifty minutes, the same regular time, the same person each week. You have one named therapist from our practice in Loughborough, chosen with you, and if you later want to meet in person our rooms are there.

We work online with clients across the UK and beyond, so that where you live and what your week allows do not decide whether you get support. Some things can be better in a room though, and we will talk that through before you commit.

Therapy without the journey.

Is this for me?

Online sessions suit some people better than in-person, and not only for convenience. Some of what we hear:

  • Getting to an appointment is the thing stopping me, not the therapy
  • I would find it easier to talk from somewhere that feels familiar
  • I travel for work and I need something that follows me
  • I have moved away but I do not want to start again with someone new
  • A health condition or disability makes travelling hard or exhausting
  • I am a carer or a parent and I cannot be away from the house for too long
  • I live rurally and the nearest practice is not near at all

What online therapy is like with us

The practical side matters more than people expect, so this is what to expect from us:

  • One named therapist, matched with you, not a rota of whoever is free
  • A regular weekly time, held for you, by video rather than by message
  • The same free thirty minute conversation before you decide anything
  • Nothing to set up beyond a device with a camera and a reliable connection
  • The option of moving between online and our Loughborough rooms, with the same therapist, subject to availability
  • The same confidentiality, and the same approach, as a session in the room

How online sessions work

The practical side

Sessions take place by video call and last fifty minutes, exactly as they do in Loughborough. We will confirm the details with you when you book, and there is nothing to set up beyond a device with a camera and a reliable connection.

You can change your mind

It does not have to be one or the other. If your circumstances change, or you simply find you would rather be in the room, we can explore the possibility of moving between online and in-person sessions with the same therapist.

Making the most of a session

Where you take the session from makes more difference than people expect. A few things that help:

  • Find somewhere peaceful where you’re not going to be interrupted for the hour
  • Headphones can help and make a session feel more private and contained
  • Give yourself a few minutes either side rather than rushing straight in and out
  • A cup of tea and a chair you are comfortable in go further than you would think
  • If you share your home, a parked car, a quiet office or a booked room can work

Our spaces

We provide counselling and psychotherapy services in person in our Loughborough space and online for clients anywhere in the UK.

Visiting us by public transport

We’re easily reachable by bus. Bus stop AA (Ashby Square) is right outside with regular buses from Leicester, Shepshed, Birstall, Rothley, Mountsorrel, Quorn and Ashby-de-la-Zouch. This stop is also served by local KinchBus services, including buses every 10 minutes from Loughborough Railway Station and Loughborough University. Skylink Derby/Leicester and buses to Nottingham also stop less than 5 minutes walk away on Derby Road and Baxter Gate.

Visiting us by car

There are a number of car parks within a couple of minutes walk. Sainsbury’s on Ashby Road offers up to 2 hours free parking, as does Regents Place Retail Park. Paid parking is also available at Packe Street and Granby Street car parks, whilst on-street parking is available in the surrounding area after 6pm.

Our counsellors

Most of our team work online as well as in person, and two work online only. You can filter for online availability on our counsellors page.

Getting the right match matters as much online as it does in the room, so we take it seriously. If the fit is not right, tell us and we will help you find someone else.
