Help when you need it, not when you can afford it.
Money is one of the reasons people don’t start therapy. You look at the rates, do the sums and decide it can wait. Then months pass and the only thing that has changed is how long you have been waiting for support.
At Charnwood Counselling we hold a number of low-cost places at £25 per 50 minute session, for up to six months, working with a counsellor in training who is in placement with us while they complete their qualification.
Same rooms, same length of session, same free conversation before you commit. The only difference is who you sit with, and what it costs.
Is this for me?
Getting support shouldn’t be a stretch, and it shouldn’t be something you keep putting off until a better month comes along. If any of this sounds familiar, a low-cost place might be the way in:
- I want to talk to someone but I can’t stretch to the usual rates
- I’ve been putting it off because of the cost
- I’m a student, or between jobs, or things are just tight right now
- I looked into therapy, saw the prices, and closed the tab
- I don’t want to be on a waiting list for months
- I’d rather start now at a lower rate than keep waiting for the right time
What you get for £25
The same as anyone else who comes to us:
- A free 30 minute conversation before you decide anything
- Weekly 50 minute sessions at a regular time
- Our rooms at The Old Arts College, or online if you prefer
- A counsellor who is supervised throughout your work together
- Weekly sessions for up to six months, and no pressure to continue
Therapy from someone honing their skills
We think it’s worth being straightforward about this, because it’s the part people wonder about most.
You’ll be working with a counsellor in the final stage of their qualification. They have completed their core training with their course provider, and are in placement with us to build the supervised practice hours they need to qualify. Their work is supervised by an experienced supervisor, and they work to the same ethical framework as the rest of the team.
What you get is a counsellor with time, attention and a real investment in getting this right. The rate is lower because they are still building hours, not because the hour is worth less.
If the fit isn’t right with your therapist, tell us and we’ll help you find someone else.
